Guest guest
, my 15 yr old son with now asymptomatic ocd, went to Scout Camp this week -- no phone calls home. My husband went up this evening -- had been gone since Monday and he reported is doing awesome. He's having a really great time. is my oldest of 5. His ocd came on strong at age 10. My next daughter is almost 12. She came to us last week and started confessing things she had done wrong since 3rd grade. Isn't there an age that is common for girls to start with ocd? I know with boys age 10 is very common, but I think it is older for girls. My next daughter is 10. She already shows signs of things. I am thinking I might as well make an appt for all of them to start counseling! Funny though, it just seems so much a part of life now that when my daughter came, it just seemed like, " well of course you would worry about things like this! " Hopefully it is nothing. I always have my feelers out, though, for any signs. It was very easy, however, to explain ocd to her. It was almost like the sex ed talk .... lots of preparation for the first one and then after that, just normal. This is kind of fascinating for me. My husband's brother has ocd. My husband does not. It seems as if all of my kids have it to a degree. My husband's brother with ocd has a son with ocd, another with autism, and a 3rd (not sure yet). Another brother has a son with ocd, also, they believe. He then has a sister and 2 other brothers and all of their kids seem fine. Interesting (and stinky) that it would affect my kids so much when he (dh) doesn't have it. Must be a bad gene! That's my update for the day. Good night! in WA
