Guest guest
Maia had her weekly E/RP appointment today, and at the end (when her therapist has me come into the office), they told me that Maia is tackling the last three items on her list this week! I can't believe it! This week, she has to look at pictures of Hitler, of skeletons, and she has to write the word " cannibal " ten times a day. And that's it - that's all she has left. We're going to keep close track of any new things that want to pop up as the week goes along (especially anything that has to do with the " just right " feeling), and deal with those next week. Then we start talking about spacing out her visits to the therapist, until she only has to go when the OCD starts to pop up again. We got this diagnosis in February, started E/RP therapy at the end of March or beginning of April, and are now starting to be able to consider the next phase of life. Maia was a MESS when she started working with her therapist. Completely out of control, and OCD was running (and ruining) our lives. I felt hopeless and miserable, as well, and was just trying to hang on (as was she). Her therapist had diagnosed Maia's OCD as severe. Now the first phase of learning to manage OCD is starting to come to a close. There really is hope! Thank you, Lord, and thanks to everyone here who has been so supportive (especially in the beginning when I was so lost and needed a lot of information and reassurance!). Good way to end the week :-) -Angi
