Frustrated with Medication study

Good Morning!

My daughter Sara is in a medication study, we know that the medicine is zoloft

and we are pretty sure they bumped her from 50mg to75mg (or more) this past

Monday. I have some questions for the seasoned parents here.....

She was doing fine on the last dose, she was happy and her compulsions were less

just a little tired and her back has been stiff since she started the medicine.

After this last bump up...she is super depressed...hates everything, everything

is boring, she isnt sleeping...said she feels like she hasnt slept in three

days. Her back is so tight that she wants to rip her spine out. She is crying a

lot she doesnt want to go to school (she NEVER says that!!).

So what is the goal of these medicines???? I do not want my daughter to be

medicated the rest of her life. She successfully completed her first exposure on

Monday...she is very motivated BUT doesnt the medicine get in the way of the

therapy????

I dont have a problem with the medicine taking the edge off so she can get

through therapy but to completely mask the situation???

Felling frustrated this morning : (

Can someone explain the role of the medication in relationship to the Exposure

therapy.

Thanks
