Guest guest
Maybe it's not the right drug for her. My son got very aggresive, defiant and suicidal on Zoloft, but he is doing great on Celexa. From what I understand, meds can make it possible for the ERP to work with some kids. Sometimes they're so bad off that the ERP can't get through to them. Steffanie To: From: kfrajerman@... Date: Thu, 7 Oct 2010 13:29:25 +0000 Subject: Frustrated with Medication study Good Morning! My daughter Sara is in a medication study, we know that the medicine is zoloft and we are pretty sure they bumped her from 50mg to75mg (or more) this past Monday. I have some questions for the seasoned parents here..... She was doing fine on the last dose, she was happy and her compulsions were less just a little tired and her back has been stiff since she started the medicine. After this last bump up...she is super depressed...hates everything, everything is boring, she isnt sleeping...said she feels like she hasnt slept in three days. Her back is so tight that she wants to rip her spine out. She is crying a lot she doesnt want to go to school (she NEVER says that!!). So what is the goal of these medicines???? I do not want my daughter to be medicated the rest of her life. She successfully completed her first exposure on Monday...she is very motivated BUT doesnt the medicine get in the way of the therapy???? I dont have a problem with the medicine taking the edge off so she can get through therapy but to completely mask the situation??? Felling frustrated this morning : ( Can someone explain the role of the medication in relationship to the Exposure therapy. Thanks
Guest guest
HI -  My daughter was on luvox, then zoloft, then clomipramine, now something else. For her the zoloft was the only one that gave her any relief. Having said that many of the parents on this website understand that your child's therapeutic dose is different to another person's.  My child seems to do better on lower doses of any drug, some children do better on a higher does. What your psych will try to do is determine in which direction to go with your child (up or down). Some kids can take 200mg of zoloft and be doing great, some take 50mg and it's too much - each child is different but when you find the drug that works, and then the dosage that works THAT " s the therapeutic dose for your child.  Sorry if this is confusing.  M Subject: RE: Frustrated with Medication study To: " OCD Group " < > Date: Thursday, October 7, 2010, 11:25 AM  Maybe it's not the right drug for her.
