My dd received homebound instruction through her school district. We did not pay

anything nor did our insurance or a charity. It was the school district's

responsibility to pay to educate her and to hire the teacher. I do not know if

this depends on your state. What state are you in? Stormy

Subject: Homebound

I lost all of my old emails, but someone mentioned once that they get home

instruction for their sick child. I think they said that they did not even have

an IEP, because their child was too sick. I mentioned this to my Psychiatrist

and she said that our insurance would usually pay for that or some kind of

charity. She said the school system would not. Does anyone know anything about

this? TU

Stormy. I forgot it was you! LOL

I am moving to NJ

My pdoc will write whatever letter I need. Do you suggest I send the letter to

the school or call them. My child has been out of school since January.

Try this, it lists by state homebound information.

I think you should call and talk to someone in the new district and explain your

dd's situation. They should be able to tell you what you need as far as a

letter. It may be different depending on the state. Good luck! Stormy

Wilma-  I child who has a designation gets services through the IDEA

(Disabilities Education Act) - start with a note from the PDOC, take that to the

school district, they will evalte and start their usual attempt at giving the

minimum  a parent will put up with - then you go back and forth until they give

the kid what she needs.

..My child was in school in Chgo. for 5th grade, but only made it to January and

then the agitation became too much. We took her out and i am now living with my

brother in NJ. We plan on moving here. Do I start by calling the school or do I

start with the pdoc.? What call should I make first?

Is your child enrolled in a school district right now? I am not sure which to do

first in your situation. Have you had communication with the new school district

yet? When my dd was going on homebound her pdoc suggested it and then we

contacted the school to see what we needed to do to put it in effect. In my dd's

case the school wanted a particular form for homebound filled out by the pdoc

and faxed to the school district in order for services to start. It may be

different in your district so I am not sure but that was the procedure in my

area. Stormy
