Boy, I would be PO'd too!!! I would write him & let him know that you took

him for his word " not to worry " & even though you tried you didn't get the C

you needed to go to nursing school. I would put that on his eval, that he

cost you (what, a semester?) b/c he gave you the impression you were doing

well enough. That sounds like a cavalier attitude blowing a student off by

saying not to worry. Too bad he couldn't take the time to see what help you

needed so you could have gotten a C.

I'm sorry you had to go through this frustrating experience.

I already did his eval, lol. Yeah, it does suck because i know I can

make a great nurse. Now I feel like quitting college all together. I

don't have a high GPA, I'm not an A test-taker. The nursing

requirements are so high I just don't know if I'll ever be able to do it.

Thanks. The thing is, I've worked several different jobs. I can

imagine me doing just about anything, but a nurse practitioner or

doctor is about the only thing I really want to do. I'm the opposite

of what you describe, during an emergency I'm right on the ball, very

focused. But I test poorly. I didn't used to, but the last year or so

I do.

Honestly, I think the reason I never got a BS degree is because I

never felt I was smart enough. I went to the university a semester & a

half, I felt so inadequate that I quit. I like to say it was because I

had met my husband, wanted to party, etc, but the truth is I never

felt smart enough. It's funny, I can explain info so technical about

the physiology of autism but barely pulled a C in physiology. I had

kids coming up to me after every lecture asking me how I knew so much

because I would ask the professor question to which he didn't know the

answer. But then I would bomb the tests. Not because I didn't know it,

but because I couldn't comprehend the gibberish in which he was asking.

Debi,

What a bummer.... I'm so sorry. But to quote quoting Reverend

Mother in The Sound of Music.... " When God closes a door, somewhere

He opens a window. "

That wasn't meant to be trite or flippant. I've found it to be true

for my own life.

Thanks Melinda & everyone. I'm meeting in the morning with the head of

nursing at another school. He says they have room for me to repeat the

course and talks as if they may for the nursing program, but I'll

still probably not get to start it for another year. Very expensive,

but part of my problem may actually be solved by it. For the first

time ever I had started the girls in daycare because the nursing

program was to last after the girls got out of school. My problem is

they all LOVE daycare! I've been struggling with how to either stay in

school or getting a job to cover the expense, I may be able to do a

workstudy at the school to both cover the cost, get a break in

tuition, and allow them to keep going.

So funny, when I married I told hubby the only thing I asked of him is

to never ask me to put our children in daycare. I had horrid memories

of being left at a daycare for the first time & thought my mother was

never returning to get me. My girls LOVE it and my 4 yr old gets mad

if I show up early!!! Allie is also doing wonderfully there and is so

happy at the end of the day. She runs to me with her arms out and

says, " Mommy!!!! " and gives me tight hugs.
