I see Joan Appleyard. She's on Greenbriar in the Med Center. She was referred to

me by someone who raved about her. I think she's good if you have textbook

symptoms.

Someone close to me is currently being tested for RA and Lupus

Erythamatosus. She has had joint pain for over six months now and was

tested last month. The results have not yet come in. When the tests do

come in, we want to get some second opinions. I don't particularly

trust her current doctor. Does anyone know of any particularly good

doctors or centers in the vicinity of Houston, Texas? We are just

getting started with all of this and don't know where to begin. Thanks

for any tips or pointers.

Thanks so much. I will look into that. You've been a big help.

I don't know what insurance your friend may have, but the woman I

work for has RA (just like me) and she raves about Dr. Norana Warner.

If you like I will track down her phone number. She is just a little

too far away from where I live for me to go to her, but she is in

Houston, TX. The woman I work for is a very particular person, so I

trust her opinion on this sort of thing!

Let me know if you would like that number.

I really like my Rheumy. Dr Grace Makhlouf. She is in Stafford, US 59

South at HWY 90. SW side of Houston Area. She spends time with you,

answers questions and said to me " If we were all a textbook, medicine would

be so easy. " I really liked that. I will say plan an early morning

appointment, because she takes time with each person, she sometimes gets

backed up. All labs and x-ray are right in the office.

Do not go to Himiashu Patel. I am not sure if I spelled his first name

correctly..but he is in a large practice of rheummy's in the Dallas area. He

moved from Temple, TX and he is a freakin' QUACK!!!!!! Sorry to be so crude

about it but he nearly killed me on Methotrexate and never listened to anything

I said!

He also thinks the fibromyalgia is a quack diagnosis and those with it are

bad in the head! He does not believe in giving any pain meds stronger than

NSAID or Ultram/Ultracet.

I am sure you can find him in the directory of physicians for the American

Rheumatology Association.

Thanks, Toni. I just started going to someone in Carollton and wondered

if he was the one you were referring to. It's not (sigh of relief!).

I'm hoping that this new one turns out to be ok. So far, so good.

I hope your current doctor is good.

Take care,
