That's right! He did well again when I dropped him off this morning, although

he thought he had to poop. He was worried about it. I told him that when the

teachers take them inside, he still has 15 minutes to poop before school starts.

I told him to stop at the bathroom on the way to his locker. He seemed okay

with that. I can't help wondering if the morning anxiety is a bit better from

the effects of the Klonopin from the night before. Either way, I'm happy he's

doing better this week.

Hi Steffanie, glad day 2 went well, hope the rest of the week (and following)

goes good too.

Yeah, meds don't work THAT fast but we have had parents say they've seen

improvements soon after starting (lucky, not having to wait & wait...took us

longer when we did Celexa).

Placebo effect or not, we'll take it!

I swear I see medications work that fast on my child. It may taper off... and

then even out, but I see something the very first day or two. She is extremely

sensitive to EVERYTHING though!

now i cannot wait for the appt when we get meds. I know it will be life changing

for all of us, but especially her.

feeling, my daughter will also get a placebo effect from the meds.

he did not have any adverse side effects. He told me that he felt less nervous

yesterday, and when I dropped him off at school, he let me go!! He usually wants

me to walk him inside the school and cries when I leave. So I know the meds

don't work that fast, but even if he has a placebo effect at first, I'm happy!

That's great! The doc said some people say they see a difference in a week or

two, but usually by 4-6 wks. My counselor, who specializes in OCD, told me the

same thing this morning. Placebo or not, if he's feeling better, that's what I

care about.

Heidi, I'm glad the good days are more. My son has GI issues, too, but the doc

said it's from the anxiety. I believe that because my main symptom of anxiety

is GI upset. I hope that you can find the right dose of meds and that the

school year goes well for you!

Hi Steffanie,

I am glad to hear your son is doing so well. I hope it continues and that the

medication is a good fit for him. Sounds like school choice was a good one. I am

meeting with my son's teacher this afternoon just to make sure his

" accommodations " are all in place for when we start in a week. Things are a bit

up and down here, but we are having more good days than bad so far since he is

home.

My son is also on Zoloft and they are still trying to find the correct dose, but

given that he might also have a Pandas diagnosis and other things complicating

it, as well as GI issues... it is a " work in progress " still.

Thank you, Barb. We're on 25 mg for two weeks. Then we go back to the psych.

He said he may increase it to 50 mg then, but if he's doing better, he may leave

it alone. School is going better, but nighttime is the same. Last night was a

very bad night, and I'm not sure if my husband and I will stay married. He just

doesn't get it, and he treats me the same way he treats our son. He yells at us

and then instead of apologizing or comforting when we're upset, he lectures us

about our behavior. I don't know if I can take it anymore.

That's great Steffanie! Our son also had immediate positive effects, not sure if

this happens when they are very sensitive to them perhaps, because ours is. So

just a caution in case that is the case, to go slow with the dosing so the body

has lots of time to adjust. Not sure I if I already mentioned this, but I wished

we had understood this better so I tend to keep saying it!!!

Fingers crossed it continues to improve. The medication can make such a

difference when it is needed.

Warmly,

Barb
