Guest guest
That describes our daugher to a " t " - especially if in a PANDAS/OCD episode. The immature behaviours are much more problematic for her when the OCD is active. Our therapist suggested that one of the challenges for gifted children is that they are able to understand and process pretty complex concepts intellectually - but often their emotional development is still behind and they may struggle to use this information in a productive way. She can ignore difficult to process information when she does not have OCD - but during an episode, knowing " so much " causes her a lot of anxiety. In general, I would not call her immature, as she often displays amazing levels of comprehension, empathy and ability to express herself. But I would say that within her age group she is one of the " youngest kids socially " - more childlike and idealistic than other rising 4th graders. I have often thought that it would be lovely to know which parent I needed to be when I woke up in the morning! OCD certainly demands flexiblity in parenting. in NC > > > > > > > > HI Melinda, > > > > I have a 13 yr old dd who is the same way.
