Hello all! I am a single mother of a 4 year old little girl. She was

recently diagnosed with autism. Although this was a painful realization

for me it does explain the developmental delays I have been trying to

find the answer to for years. Can anyone point me in the right

direction for what I am suppose to do next?

Jackie,

I'm also the mom of a 4yo girl with autism. I hate it that they diagnose and

then don't tell you what to do.

It's time to get busy! Where do you live?

This web site TACA, has a great New Parents section:

http://www.talkaboutcuringautism.org/index.htm

TACA is the organization that helped McCarthy. I'd highly recommend

reading her book, and she has a getting started section in the back.

There are tons of books that can help.

You will quickly want to get started with getting her in the right school

program. From age 3 to 21, it's the school district who has to provide

educational services. Do you have her in a program yet?

Best wishes,

Marie

Hello,

My advice is to pace yourself and don't get overwhelmed. There is so much

information out there that you can get overloaded. If your daughter is not

sleeping well, you should try melatonin from a good source like Kirkman Labs.

They are at:

www.kirkmanlabs.com/

Sleep is super-important for everyone in your family.

More to come later...

I live in Texas. The Houston area. It is really nice to know there

are people out there that are willing to answer questions and help

direct me in the right direction.
