Guest guest
Vent away, it helps. Well I hope that during this family therapy the psychologist will pick up on the OCD and somehow get your son into CBT/ERP -- maybe where your son isn't really realizing that's what the psych is doing. Like maybe during family therapy talking to him about " expecting those things to be done " and work on turning that around with a plan for your son. (just thinking as I type so may not make sense) Yeah, therapy does seem to end up having us share things about our lives/home that we'd rather not. But also in just the short explanations seems to put us/family in some kind of " bad light " as therapist is hearing just excerpts and hasn't lived with us daily the past years, etc. I know with one saw, I think the therapist/psych (who was also a coworker/friend) wanted to concentrate on the sibling problems (not getting along) as maybe why the OCD started.... I never saw his notes of course, but I think he thought " home life " was a stressor, though he did give OCD homework to work on (as much as he could since always went in saying things were better, he was fine, etc.). > > Hi, well we went to the psychologist and she was great but my son is now saying that he doesn't need CBT/ERP cos his OCD is no longer a concern for him. I have watched him over the past few days and he is still doing rituals, however, cos he is saying he is managing his OCD the pychologist is only going to do family therapy. > > the sessions were difficult and i think the psychologist picked up that we are trying to do everything to make things easier for our son, however, he is now expecting these things to be done.
