From cmmonline.com, dated 10/6/06 "According to researchers who identified the likely sources of the microbial transmission in a medical facility in Glasgow, Scotland, "Nosocomial aspergillosis is a well-known complication of immunosuppression in cancer patients." The study reported on an outbreak of aspergillosis in an oncology ward and concluded that a "dispersal of a contaminated aerosol from a ward vacuum cleaner" was strongly implicated and that the vacuum cleaner "had the highest measured concentrations of aspergillus fumigatus in or around the building (65 colony forming units (cfu)/m3 compared with 0-6 cfu/m3 elsewhere)." (Reference: Aspergillosis in immunocompromised pediatric patients: Associations with building hygiene, design, and indoor air, Department of Respiratory Medicine, Western Infirmary, Glasgow.) "
