Sondra, I love how gets so excited over little things. When she smiles

its like her eyes glow.

I have never seen another child smile the way she does, its so beautiful.

I love watching her and how she can concentrate on an object for such a long

time.

Simple things make her so happy.

Missy ('s mom)

to all the moms and dads here

On another list we are exploring autistic strengths and so was of

wondering here what you as of parents see as the most cherished things

of you dauhters on spectrum? what attribute do they demonstrate or

reflect that is of to make you happiest and see you child in ways that

are of endearing? {that means sees of you child in a special way}

Like for me my missy I to like of her special sense of innocent humor,

and her literal way of thinking to things. While she cannot spell well

I to love to seeher creative attempts and her strength to not give up

in her wants to be of a writer girl. She is of with multiple learning

issues but she still is of one who is of eager to learn and keeps

giving her best to learn. I to see that as a wonderful strength in her

and wish I to had of that within self. I to usually get too frustrated

in learning new things and give up.

Sondra

Great topic, Sondra! Thanks!

My 's best trait is the fact that she never, ever quits.

When she decides to do something she keeps on trying until she

succeeds. Her determination sets a high standard for the rest of us

to follow.

I also love her sense of humor. She laughs at every little quirky

thing she hears or sees, and she has a really sweet smile.

this last few days reading of here has been of a positive one and

brings me happy feelings to know how much these little girls are loved

and how much they are still cherished as they age into teens and

adults. It is of a blessing indeed to read of the good things our girls

can do. the little one thanking her mommy for a sip of water was of

precious and the ones who are already showing how they are determined

to push past their barirers and challenges to reach their own set of

atonomy they set to do for self they have a great sense of need for

htier own self set quality of life they are seeking. many here like

self are self teachers they seek to teach them ownselves the things

they want to learn and seek it maybe endlessly but it is self

motivating and driven for us to learn. we find ways to learn in ways

others cant teach because the way many want to teach is of driven from

a very different set of rules and concepts that seem like a traffic jam

to us. We simply prefer to ride the bike passing all the cars and

trucks on the freeway through that traffic way to reach our goals for

selves (metaphorically speaking) we are of good problem solvers at

times if left to do so.

Anyways i to be enjoying the reading on the good things being shared

here this week.

kassianne sorry to hear of you foot didnot remember you hurt of it. sad

to hear you are of moving away again. I to think soon you will ahve

lived in all the states LOL but in real envy of that freedom to travel

and be of independent and self suffient in life. I to so much want to

see of the world in lfie before too old to see of it. had I to been of

smart would not have married and had of kids and just buyed a nice car

and traler like things and traveld around the world until I to growed

old and could not get air into me anymore. No one to tell of me no cant

buy this or that, or cant go here or there, no one to tell me I to be

of doing it wrong and so just live by self and live by own self maked

choices and rules and living free of the expectations of society to me.

If I to want to jump and flap around the trees or pace about them no

one to tell me stop of it and be of normal. I to hate that society

makes me feel bad fro being of self in my own ways in life.

I to say often if I to ever disappear in life search the beaches and

ocean fronts you will eventually find me..... LOL

Sondra-

I understand wanting to have the chance to be free. Being a typical (if that

is possible) adult there are times that I would like to not answer my husband or

kids and just run away.

I do have to say that you have provided me so much information on autism. You

came and spoke at Step By Step Academy at the ground breaking and I had the

privilege to finally meet you in person and you were able to guide me to this

yahoo group.

You are a valuable source of information. I do not think that you should

ever feel bad for being yourself. Each and everyone of us has our own little

differences. There are many things that bother me about my husband (and kids)

and after 14 years of marriage I just live with them. I can also guarantee that

I have many that he also lives with.

For those that do not know me:

My name is and I have an 8 1/2 year old girl and a 11 1/2 year old

typical son. Sondra told me that this is a wonderful group to learn about the

changes or ask questions on what my daughter will be going through in the

future. In reading the some of the post, I think that I will have a lot to

learn and many questions to ask.

Step by step is of a wonderful fast growing school based off ABA

theory and is of an excellant example of a " GOOD " ABA program for

childrens of autism. it is respectful and supports self in it

Josie also has that smile that lights up a room. It's impossible to

frown around her! She always sees the best in people and reminds me

not to be so cynical. She sees shapes in clouds which you can't

unless she points it out.

She has made me realise that 'reality' and 'normality' are objective

and she judges people not on how they look and dress but on how they

act. She reminds me that people are truely a rainbow, not just

behaviour or color wise, but personality and perception. We see what

we want to see.

She makes up the most wonderous stories although she cannot write

them down, about places she will live (currently Paris!) and things

she will see (Mars, space and the Eiffel Tower).

She makes me feel proud and blessed to have had her.
