Guest guest
Hello Paige and all others who suffer with us from neck, shoulder and back pain. According to " The Arthritis Foundation's Guide to Good Living with Rheumatoid Arthrits " ..neck and shoulder pain are expected from RA sufferers. There are obvious joints there. Internal organs are also affected over time. However, the back pain is not normally caused by the RA itself, according to studies. Many RA patients will disagree, myself included. But if you want to go with the information from years of research, your back pain could be something else. You may be walking differently due to hip, knee, ankle or foot pains. This could be one cause. However, with RA eventually can come many other diseases. They can come over time or sooner. Have you mentioned your pain to your Rheumatologist? Fibromyalgia causes back pain and an overall sense of pain. It can affect the shoulders and neck as well. It is very common to have Fibro with RA. There is not one single test that diagnoses Fibromyalgia. Your Doctor must hear your symptoms, rule out other possibilities and then he or she may make a diagnosis of Fibro. I suffer from RA. I have had RA for over 5 years. I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. All that has really meant to me is another drug. I still have the pain, I still feel the constant sense of exhaustion and I will never be myself again. But at least I know why I feel foggy, tired and achy. You may want to discuss your symptoms with your doctor to rule out other diseases. Then try one of the drugs prescribed for Fibro and see if you find any relief. Good Luck. Have you found any good articles or books about RA? Besides the obvious- the internet, which has an abundance of information, the public libraries have a good supply of books and almost all the major book stores have books covering these diseases. The research does not change that much so as long as the book is fairly recent, the information should be about the same. Again, good luck and I hope you find an answer that helps you. Take care, Cathie M. catmoh@... ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never Miss an Email Stay connected with on your mobile.
