Guest guest
Since my 13 year old son's medication was changed in Jan., he has had little progress. He has stopped needing routines to come in house and he cut down on hand washing rituals which is really good, but that's about it. It just seems so sloooow. Seems progress came faster with Luvox and before that, Zoloft. He has PANDAS and since IVIG treatment latest week he for the first has cut back on questions - maybe once every half hour. Huge relief. Gets worse in evening and when he is stressed - also when anyone coughs, sneezes or even laughs or sighs or breaths too loudly. We can go places, but often have to leave due to noises. Only this last week has he used an MP3 player to help with not hearing noises. He still has lots of other OCD issues and likes to control family members as to where when can go in house since certain parts are " unclean. " He has a quick temper if his rules are not obeyed. Sometimees I can get 'him to compromise. It's just exhuasting. PANDAS doctor recommends no change in meds for another 3 weeks to measure effectiveness of IVIG. He thinks Cymbalta not working very well and he does need a change. However, I am a little reluctant as last time the change set him back. So - is the little progress we saw mean Cymbalta working (it's been about 9 weeks) and he is just slow to respond or has enough time gone by that we should see better results. Of course, we are hoping the IVIG brings about change as well. He does go to therapy but he doesn't seem willing (or able?) to work hard on the OCD. He is also angry and depressed over battling this OCD. He has improved in this area, but I'm not sure how more the family could tolerate. Hospitization is not out of the question at this point if he doesn't show more progress soon. Anita
