Guest guest
My 6 yo had recurrent symptoms but the test always came back without infection. Her's was due to bladder spasms from holding it too long. Does her test come back positive? Deanna Urinary Tract Infections > My 7 year old daughter is having recurrent UTIs'. Guest guest
My grandmother was told by her very allopathic nurse practitioner to start taking several grams of vitamin C each day. She went a couple of years without a bladder infection, but started having them again when she stopped taking it. I don't know if this would help your little one or not, thought I would suggest it. In microbiology last semester we were taught that 75% of bladder infections in females are from e.coli from fecal material. If she's not wiping really good or wiping front-to-back that could cause problems. I know I still have issues with my nearly 8 yr-old not keeping herself clean after a bm. Also, sulfur-based foods can help, such as cranberries. You can also get cranberry extract capsules that can be taken to help add the good stuff without her having to drink it. Guest guest
Funny you should ask. The in-office dip is always positive but when they send it in, nothing grows up. Her behavior is highly elevated when she has the symptoms and gets way better once we start the antibiotic. hummmmm..... I can try having her go potty more. She's very good about drinking cranberry juice but I think it might be a good idea to supplement cranberry and Vit. C. I really don't want to try to take her to a specialist. She wouln't lay still and we'd have to sedate her...blah, blah,..... I usually wipe her after she goes potty but sometimes her hands are in her pants and she's moving those little germs around. Thanks for the help. Kelli > > My 6 yo had recurrent symptoms but the test always came back without > infection. Her's was due to bladder spasms from holding it too long. Guest guest
My ped had my daughter go every 3 hours and completely empty the bladder. How this is accomplished is by having her sit up straight and spread her legs. To make this happen naturally, have her sit backwards facing the tank. Something sitting on the tank for entertainment (or after success) was a good motivator for us. This can take many days to completely get rid of symptoms. Best of luck to you! Guest guest
Hi Like Deanna, My daughter has urinary frequency with some bouts that are extreme. She has had this for years. All her UTI tests come back negative We even did a round of antibiotic once just in case. No change. Her renal ultrasound showed no abnormalities. She is on a med now for bladder spasms, Detrol. It takes a while to work but after about a month I am seeing improvement. Melinda ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
My older daughter had recurrent uti's and it was determined that it was due to irregular bowel movement. Perhaps this is a possibiity. kest33 wrote: My 7 year old daughter is having recurrent UTIs'. Has anyone here had a similar problem?
