Guest guest
good one Amnesty, I wouldn't have thought of that. I am tucking that bit of info away for when the time comes. Terri Re: IEP Goal - Menstruation Self Help Hhhmmmm...Schools are required to follow universal precautions, so I would think that preventing blood from getting onto classroom surfaces would be included in that...if she isn't capable of doing it, her teachers have to be. Maybe look into some OSHA laws and be prepared with that at the IEP Amnesty > > > > Yes, all of those things. Guest guest
Hello, I am kinda new here. I have been reading all the post, here.My daughter has autism, and she would really get up-set with a bloody- nose. When she started her monthly it would get worst. That was when she was 12 or 13. Later I talked with her doctor about it. She suggest a depo shot for 3 months. This stops the period and its a birth- control. Well I was not sure about it, but I had my daughter get the shot(in the arm). Now she is 19 and we are still doing the depo shot. This has helped my daughter and me, piece of mind, too. You can-not be always with your child and yes I will always worry about my daughter. You can ask your doctor about the depo shot. The school has a janiter who is supposed to clean-up blood spills. Yes they are supposed to were gloves, etc. I do suggest freqent visit to the school, un-announced at times. Keep in close communication with the teacher as much as possible. Guest guest
My school seems a little reluctant on the hair brushing thing too, but they have agreed to brushing her teeth at school and using deordorant at gym. I guess those two things are more reasonable to request during a school day. I have not reached the menstrual thing, so we will have to see how they respond when I bring it up. Thanks for the book suggestion. Is it good for both sexes? My boys could use some coaching in this area. They are HFA but when it comes to hygiene....aaarrrrggghhhh!!! > >Reply-To: Autism_in_Girls >To: Autism_in_Girls >Subject: RE: Re: IEP Goal - Menstruation Self Help >Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2007 14:46:36 -0800 (PST) > >Hi Diane > I have a too.
