Guest guest
Hello all: Today I went to the vet to get my dog all of her yearly vaccinations. Our country vet works on both large livestock and household pets. I asked her about NAIS. She said that she was opposed to it but now that it's passed into law there's nothing we can do about it. She told me, "You should comply or the gov't will think you're a wacko and eventually you'll have men with guns showing up at your door." She said NAIS is all about Homeland security and the centralization of the Federal government's power over everything. I told her that ADGA goats are already registered. She added that cattle are too, "The system is called branding and it works well." By her demeanor I could tell she was upset with NAIS but she also seemed afraid of gov't reprisal which is why she advised not to fight it. I asked her why llamas and alpacas are included since the rhetoric we're hearing is that NAIS will safeguard the nation's meat supply. She said that llamas and alpacas can transfer Hoof and Mouth disease to other livestock. She also said that all fiber animals transfer anthrax easily since it adheres to their hair. She mentioned a case of anthrax found in a herd of cashmere goats. Many of our freedoms are being taken away under the rhetoric of "national security" but this is not a political forum so I'd better stop at that. Just wanted you all to know what one vet said about NAIS .... for all it's worth :-) Naftoli _______________________ Alpenpässe Chèvres SuissesAlpine Pass Swiss Dairy Goats Naftoli, Efraim, & Ilana Pickard 45201 Carmel Valley road Greenfield, CA 93927 Yahoo!
