I find that Neurontin cured my sinus-migraine headaches. I was already

taking it for mood, and my dose was increased with a morning capsule when I

was diagnosed with it. I was given the same medicine you were taking,

originally, but it only made me sleep all day, and wake up with a headache.

headaches

has anyone tried a med that works for tension headaches? i'd been taking

butalbital compound (brand name fiorinol, i think). i'm now finding that's

no longer working. i find myself bedridden on the days the headaches

happen,

and they're happening w/ greater frequency. suggestions?

Joni,

Please contact me off the list if you want to discuss this; I

have taken fiorinal for 15 yrs and have been given a system

by a headache clinic that may help you... I have

several questions, though, and your situation may not make

this system workable for you..

Joni,

As a matter of fact that's one of the meds I take for headaches. It's not

working very well for me either any more. I was flat out yesterday between my

back and what turned into a migraine. Finally used the Imitrex but still

have the headache today. I'm going into my doc soon to see about something

else to use. Maybe I've built up a tolerance to that medication because I've

used it for so long?

Would it be possible to share this information on

list? I know that I would be interested.

I have found that even though your blood work looks ok does not mean that

you feel OK......this has happened to me quite frequently.

Have you started any new meds recently that might be giving you the

headaches? You should really consult with your Doc about them.

Hugs,

Carey

Is it a headache or a migraine, that would be a good place to start. I get

migraines, a lot. I take 5-HTP, which I get at Vitamin world, or another place

similar. It is a vitamin supplemental thing, but not in a bad way. It has said

to help with migraines and depression, for me it definitely does. It is also

supposed to help you try to reach the REM cycle during sleep. I also was

prescribed Midrin to take once I feel the migraine coming on. I was also put on

Inderal LA, which is a BP med, decreasing BP and HR, " thinning " blood so it

doesn't pound in my head as often, decreasing the migraines. It too has worked.

There are a lot of reasons for headaches and migraines. Try to find the root of

the problem. Good luck, and keep pushing them to help you!

Love Always,

Subject: Headaches

The last several days my headaches have becoming more frequent & severe. The

pain meds. don't seem to help much so I was wondering if anybody had a home

remedy or witches brew - anything I'm desperate! Also the last time I talk to my

RD she told my blood work looked perfect. Does that mean I should not be

experiencing pain. At the time of the blood work I was on 50mg of pred. and now

I am on 45mg. I would appreciate all advise.

thanks, Brett

He Brett.......I can relate to many of the problems that this disease bestows

us, but headaches are the most devastating part of it for me.

While I have yet to have a Doctor fully agree that the headaches are a part

of Stills, I never had them until this all started and it was one of my most

prominent symptoms.

I woke up @ 3:30 AM one morning with a 105 fever, severe, uncontrollable

shaking/chills, unable to speak due to my throat and a headache that felt like

it was pushing my eyes straight out of their sockets and making me wish I would

just die.

I have had these headaches ever since, and I rarely go more than a few days

without one. They will last for weeks, with my longest lasting 29 days. The

headaches are simple to describe, as they 1) feel like my eyes are being

physically pushed out 2) are always consistent, meaning they don't " pulse " ,

" throb " or any other " catch phrase " for typical migraines 3) do not make me

sensitive to sound or light or cause me to lose my appetite 4) start without

warning and are always in the exact, same space.

I have seen 4 or 5 Neurologists, have had around a dozen MRI's (at four

different facilities) and numerous CT scans. I have also had an EEG. Everything

comes back " normal " , whatever that means. I did have a severe sinus infection

last winter/spring, but all that did was add to the " areas " of my head that were

emitting brutal pain. I also have a " spot " that showed up on an MRI (12/04) that

wasn't present on the MRI(s) I had prior to that. For a while they gave me an MS

scare but that seems to have been resolved and they say I don't have MS. That is

the only positive news I have ever received regarding my headaches.

I have been hospitalized countless times since this started for me and in

each & every case a BRUTAL headache was always one of my most debilitating

symptoms. When I have the headaches that severe, the only thing that helps is

Dilaudid, and they wind up having to give me a shot every 3-4 hours............

and that only takes the level down from a " 10 " to maybe a " 6 or 7 " . The only

thing that truly eliminates these ******* is time, but they always come back.

Lately (last 3 weeks) I have had a moderate headache that thankfully hasn't

worsened, but it won't tone down either. I always seem to do worse with these in

the winter, as they amazingly don't occur anywhere near as often in the summer.

Well, hope your headache goes away and doesn't return. Kirk

Brett,

Have you made any drug changes or changed doses recently? Do you always have

headaches? Drugs can make me have headaches, so can my blood sugar levels, my

fever elevations and chlorine. When I stopped drinking clorinated water, sitting

in hot tubs of water and taking long showers, I felt a lot better. I still stay

away from the chlorine and despite it being a pain in the neck, I don't have

many headaches any more. Who knew? MTX gave me massive headaches, so bad my own

breathing was too loud and made me nauseous. Too much light will also give me

headaches, my sinuses, clenching my teeth, you name it. Everything goes " to my

head " so to speak. It's the first place I feel a reaction. Make sure you speak

to your doctors and let them know. It could be a sign of something serious. Ice

on my head, hot water bottle on my feet usuall helps, along with a towel rolled

up behing my neck. Small one, not huge. Don't want to interfer with the natural

curvature of the cervical spine, just

support it a bit. So, while you are towelled, iced and hot packed, some dark

and quiet also seems beneficial for me and if I go to sleep, great.

Smiles, Caroline

last week I went about 4 days without drinking any raw goat milk and

my headaches started to come back. Guess I'll keep drinking raw milk

for now.
