Guest guest
Thank you Shery I don't have BBB here but I sure can look on eBay. Did you use this one yourself? Is it easy? Barbara The cuisinart has a real nifty little ice cream maker for 1-4 people. It is soooooo easy and was about $39 at "Bed, Bath & Beyond". Probably could get it cheaper on Ebay. : ) Shery Sunspring Ranch Utah
Guest guest
Usually before Christmas they do have all kinds of gadgets but it is possible that this Walmart does not have it. I have another one close by that I can look for it. Barbara It's super easy. Just put the container in the freezer to freeze, make up the ingredients and refrigerate. Once the container is frozen, you plop it into the machine, turn it on (it's got a digital timer) and pour in the ice cream ingredients and in a short time you have ice cream. You can make it like soft swirl or regular. Like a lot of stuff with Wal-Mart, it may be a seasonal type thing. I think I got mine in the early spring. K.C. Guest guest
Yes, I used it all summer and it's a snap. Just toss in whatever kind of milk and/or cream ( I just used milk from my ND goats) and whatever sweetner and flavoring. It's done in about 20 minutes. You can get extra freezer bowls for it. Wish I would have because it's so good I always run out before everyone's satisfied. Seems to be very well made. Cuisinart is a good brand and they've been around for awhile. Didn't know they made these until I bumped into it last summer. : ) Shery Re: Icecream maker Thank you Shery I don't have BBB here but I sure can look on eBay. Did you use this one yourself? Guest guest
K.C., you do not have to use cream to make icecream? The co-op I will be getting the milk through said that the milk is from Jersey cows so it will be full of cream. Could you send me the recipe for your icecream, please? My first order will be coming next week Tuesday...can't wait. Barbara The first time I made ice cream, I was diligent about following the recipe directions. WRONG!!! I ended up with about 3 or 4 cups of vanilla butter. It was good, but not what I wanted. I took some, diluted it with skimmed milk and remade it. It was fabulous. I used the original base for future batches. Now, I just use whole Jersey milk from Margie and it comes out great. No eggs though. I don't like the consistency. K.C. Guest guest
I hope to find an icecream maker soon because my order arrives next Tuesday. So you too are using milk and not necessarily a cream? I ordered 1/2 gallon of cream for the purpose of making icecream I guess, I will be using milk only and the cream in my coffee. You are right of course, Cuisinart is an old, reliable brand. Barbara Yes, I used it all summer and it's a snap. Guest guest
Well, there's 6-11% cream in Nigerian Dwarf milk so there is some cream - usually more than standard goat milk. : ) Shery Re: Icecream maker I hope to find an icecream maker soon because my order arrives next Tuesday. Guest guest
Shery, I belong to this list for a long while and am reading about the Nigerian Dwarf goats and from what I read and see in pictures they are my favorite breed of goats. If I could I would have them for sure. They are so cute and having more cream in their milk is the icing on the cake I also read that their milk does not have the goaty taste, even if a little older. That's a bonus too. Guest guest
I just use 3 or 4 cups whole milk (whatever the machine holds), some sugar (I don't like it real sweet) to taste and my vanilla powder. You can use vanilla extract. I blend up everything in the blender and when get it good and cold. Then take the container out of the freezer, pop it into the machine and pour in the mix. I have also used some cut up peaches, but found it's best to mash some or put some in the blender and spin them a bit to get that great peach flavor throughout the ice cream. I've also made chocolate by using some good cocoa in the milk with some sugar and blend it up. You can add little marshmallows and nuts to the mix and make some Rocky Road. It's so easy to create good ice cream with anything you like. And, if it doesn't come out good, you can melt it down and add stuff to make it the way you like. When my yogurt turns out too thin, I use that and make frozen yogurt and when it get thick in the machine, I heat up some of my home made raspberry or other jam and pour it slowly into the machine and it comes out kind of swirled. But you have to do that at the end or it just mixes together. Not that it's a bad thing. It's fun to create different stuff. My machine came with a recipe book that tells how to make the sorbets too. But, I haven't done that. Maybe soon if I get ambitious and take out some of my berries and stuff to do it with. I'll probably wait till spring when it warms up a bit to do that. Just can't think about sorbet when its snowing (LOL). K.C. Re: Icecream maker K.C., you do not have to use cream to make icecream? Guest guest
No salt & ice. You just freeze the bowl (I keep it in the freezer always), and take it out when you're ready to use it. You just mix up your ingr's and it makes ice cream in less than 1/2 hour - I don't think it makes quite a gallon???Summer PERFECT!!! Sounds great. I need to get me one of these. Thanks, Trisha in WA

Guest guest
Debbie, if your machine uses no electricity, it has to be put in the freezer then? Sorry, I don't have -53C here.....I live in Florida...LOL Love your adventurous dog! Barbara We have a Donvier machine and I love it. A couple of winters ago it was -53 C here with a windchill and we were putting the freezer part outside to freeze and making ice cream everynight after chores. Left it on the truck hood. One night we left it on the sidewalk by the door and went out in the morning to it being missing. After a huge search we found it in the sheep pen with teeth dent mark in it. Our guardian dog must have thought we left her a toy and had taken it in to her hidy spot. Luckily she didn't bite right through! She has grown up some now but still likes to carry off things. I love this machine. No electricity or ice involved. Guest guest
Yes. All you do is put the freezer part in the deep freeze and then when you need it take it out and put it in the special holder it fits in. Looks like a big coffee cup. then add your mix the paddle put on the lid and crank for about 15 min. They have a website with recipes etc . If you search google for Donvier you should see it. A pic might help you understand. Guest guest
What you can do is look at stores on line that you have in your area and then call the stores to see if they have it or can get it....like Target and K-Mart. That way you don't have to waste gas and kill yourself running around. K.C. Re: Icecream maker Thank you K.C. I will be looking around.
