Considering going on SSRIs; any way to evaluate the risk?

Hello, folks.

I've always struggled with depression. For quite a while I was on bupropion

(wellbutrin), which kept the despair away and did wonders for my motivation, but

didn't seem to help much in terms of social integration. Lately anxiety has

become more of a problem; as a result, my psychologist has been encouraging me

to see a psychiatrist and start on a course of SSRIs. It's not clear if this

would involve stopping the wellbutrin or not.

I considered SSRIs back before I started wellbutrin, but avoided them because of

the sexual side effects (this was before PSSD was well known). At this point

I'm willing to tolerate temporary sexual side effects, but the prospect of

permanently impairing myself is pretty frightening.

Can anybody offer any advice? Any way to know if I would be at risk for PSSD?

Anything I ought to bring up in discussions with the psychiatrist? Should I

mention PSSD? What if the psychiatrist is dismissive of these concerns? Are

there any controlled experiments establishing that PSSD is a problem that I

could point to?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.
