Sharon Lyn <skybluetn@...> wrote: Hello, My name is Lyn and I live in the Nashville, TN area. I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago with Palidromic Rheumatism. I was on Plaquenil for a few months and my Rheumatologist retired. When I was then transferred to a different Rheumy he decided I didn't have PR and that I have only Fibromyaligia and took me off Plaquenil. I lost my insurance so for 3 yrs I just suffered. Even though I'm on some powerful pain meds (I've also had 2 spine surgeries including a L4/L5 fusion with hardware) so I suffer with Osteoarthritis and damaged nerves etc - all this causes chronic pain. I still continued to have problems with redness swelling and feeling like I had the flu. My current Primary Care Physcian continued to run my blood test to keep an eye on everything. I also have Hypothyroidism, GERD, Hypertension, Degenerative Disc Disease in both my lumber spine & neck, just to name a few. I'm only 49 yrs old but sometimes have the energy and physcial stamina of an 80 yr old. Three years ago my RA factor was negative and my ANA was positive. Thus the Diagnosis of PR. In Jan of this year my blood work came back with a SED rate of 57, RA factor positive (48) and ANA negative. With my hands swelling and my knuckles on both hands being very red and swollen and stiff....and of course the morning stiffness problem, my NEW Rheumy diagnosed me with full blown Rheumatoid Arthritis. My mother also has RA, she found out when she was 60....she will be 70 in November so she's been suffering with it for 10 yrs. Unfortunately, I have found out at 49.....it's not good news for sure. I have a lot of the nodules....mainly in my right arm, my left leg above my knee and several in my feet! My Rheumy says that the xrays show some damage to my hands that is irreversable but that we should be able to slow down it's progress with Methotrexate. I currently take 6 pills on Friday night before bed. The first couple of weeks I was so nauseous on Saturday that I could barely hold my head up off the pillow.....now it's not that bad and I just take Phenergan along with MTX and it works fine. Ok...that's my story in as much of a nutshell as I can get it for now. I was glad to find this group and hope that I can not only share some stories, but also learn from everyone on here. Thanks!
