Hi

About Jan's question regarding websites:

I have a blog and I have links to resources that I frequently refer people to in the sidebar.

mom.com, the La Leche League website, The Infant Risk Center website all come to mind.

I also have a fanpage for my blog on Facebook. I am personally a fan of mom, Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, Baby Gooroo, and Breastfeeding Matters in the Capital Region. I am also a fan of various other natural parenting sites, as they tend to post links that I like about nursing, among other topics. I also like

to hear what moms are being told on parenting sites. I am a fan of many

lactation consultant, midwife and doula fanpages to support and promote them and to share information. I 'meet' or hear about them usually online.

There are several IBCLCs with really good blogs. I should make a list. If I refer to blogs, I refer to specific posts that I have read, since referring a mom is basically endorsing the information. If a mom chooses

to explore from there and become a reader of that blog, that is up to her.

Karinda, I have referred several moms to your blog and website who call me from the Salem area wanting my help. Sorry to hear that every mom leaves the hospital pumping and with shields. So sad.

Speaking of blogs, I'm collaborating with Jim Akre to roll out his blog,

Planet Breastfeeding, very soon. You may have heard his milk-sharing hot-topic talk at GOLD (still available if you participated in the GOLD conference this year), the text of his talk went viral on facebook a couple weeks ago. You may have read about his vision for the Planet Breastfeeding website in the end of his book, The Problem with Breastfeeding (as far as I can tell, only in print in French right now). It's very exciting to me to be working with him on this, please look for it. I can't wait to glean more from him and his writing in his future blog posts.

Love,
