I would be interested in hearing what others are doing too. I know of a doula that used a stylus with her ipad. I don't know if her writing was converted to type or if it saved as a pdf or what. I believe she did all her charting on it though. And she emailed instructions and notes to her client so she didn't have to print them out. It was intriguing.

I have an iPad also but mine isn't the kind with wireless built in so I would

either need to get access to the client's wireless or spring for a mobile

hotspot. I haven't wanted to spend the extra money yet. I have the office

suite on my iPad and all of my forms are in Word so I can use my stuff, just

don't have an easy way to transmit it. Plus, I don't like typing on my iPad and

haven't bought a keyboard for it yet. So for now, I've continued to carry my

documents on flash drives and use my little netbook computer and portable

printer instead.

The other thing that comes to my mind is that I want to have my clients

physically sign their care management plan. I like knowing that they have a

hard copy (as opposed to a computer copy they could alter) and that I have a

signature in the chart. Not very trusting of me but I'm thinking in terms of

self protection.

With all that said though, it would be wonderfully convenient to be able to use

my iPad instead of lugging all that stuff around. If someone figures out a good

way to use their iPad to chart, I would love to hear about it.

Warmly,

Carroll
