Thank you. > How long have you been off Wellbutrin for, a month? ( i just stopped, after coming down from effexor, have some kind of " pssd " .) I don't believe drugs are a long term solution... to my problems. Although in the future I may have to go back on them again, as I was treated with severe depression 4 years ago, when I was 16. I am feeling the same way. I am 20 and even younger than you. Last year I went totally off " AD's " and had the same effects as I do today, but I don't quite remember what happened. I think I was okay after a few months of this torment- I think going off medications very quickly was my downfall. I think after 3-4 months of quitting the medication, my depressive symptoms came back, and with that I think my sexual problems went away. If anything I think it will take a few months for you, and me to get back on track. I think because we are young we will be able get back to normal within short period of a few months. I think the both of the two medications, just like mine, are to to blame. I cannot believe this is happening either. But I say to stay away from girls for a few months and masturbate or something to see how you are doing. I don't know if going back on paxil will restore your sex life, it is possible, however SSRI's are known to destroy sex lives and maybe it was your age that you were doing well with it. I think what is really causing this is the repairing of the brain that needs to recover from the medications. You rbrain I think goes back to normal within a time period of 3-4 months, and I think rewires into its genetic original state. So a period of 3 - 4 months the brain rewires and one's mood becomes different and one becomes a much different person. I think this the time period you should see a recovery, not 1 month or so. I tried to go to a lower dose every 3 months so I would not have the same effect as I did last year. I don't know if it is going to work. I have been on Ad's on/off for 3-4 years. I don't believe that all is lost in your sex life if you stay off of them, see how you do in 3-4 months!
Guest guest
I also got the 1st symptoms of pssd when i was on finpecia which has finastride.. the same ingredient in propecia.. Due to some reason i also was on feliz-s10(similar to celexa).. For both the drugs I was on a short course(about 20 tablets each) after which I stopped..I suffer the same symptoms as you..The drugs were taken in 2003 and I am still facing the symptoms.. I have tried a few herbs.. but they havent helped much. Also spoke to a few doctors who say its all in my head and I just have to stop thinking about it... but so far its not helped even though i've done that. There is also a forum on side effects due to propecia.. who have conditions similar to ours...chk it out at www.propeciahelp.comFrom: joetz1 To: SSRIsex Sent: Tuesday, January 6, 2009 9:33:22 PMSubject: My story I just joined this group recently and am very interested in how this traditional chinese medicine thread works out. For those who are interested here is my story. Unlike most of the people on this forum I never had depression. I had a seizure disorder and sometimes doctors prescribe SSRIs like depekote to treat seizures. When I was 17 I suffered my first grand mal seizure. I went on a variety of medications in this order: tegretol, felbatol, dilantin, depekote, and finally lamictal. While on depekote, I started finding girls less attractive, but didn't know there was something wrong with me until I was in my early 20s. I tried propecia to combat hair loss and that's when, mechanically, I became sexual dysfunctional. I blame the depekote for the loss in libido and the propecia for the physical problems. I quit everything a year ago and now am suffering from the following side effects: -A complete and total absence of sexual fantasies -A loss of physical attraction to women -Some kind of emotional lobotomy. I can't fall in love. -I can't experience any kind of joy. I feel like the "pleasure center" in my brain has been killed. When I watch stand up comedy, I can't laugh at the jokes because of this pleasure center short circuit. -I have lost some genital sensation -Strange orgasms. I have pleasureless orgasms. The erection is there, the orgasm happens, but there is zero pleasure connected to it. I feel like these drugs have permanently damaged my brain and killed a part of my soul. I used to have a different personality and felt like a real person. The saddest thing is that this happened to me at a very young age and I worry that I'll never be returned to normal. I'm hoping this chinese medicine that's got everyone talking turns out to be real because I'm desperate and out of options.
