We are on the Beckett Medicaid waiver and we also have private insurance.

If you haven't applied for the waiver, I would suggest you do so.......it will

pay for medicine and therapies that private insurance won't.

Thanks for that info. We are looking into the Medicaid Waiver,

Unfortunately there is a waiting list (years) we were told in the state

of Virginia! What else could I do?

Dianna and Donna- I have been reading your messages and am also

currently looking into some financial assistance right now. We have

private health insurance, but need something to help cover what they

don't. Currently I am applying for SSI (Social Security Income)

benefits. A child with a handicap who lives at home can qualify for

this in most states. We are also looking into Medicaid, and finally,

in Ohio, there is a program called BCMH (Benefits for Children with

Medical Handicaps). I learned about it from our Children's Hospital.

If your child qualifies, and you financially qualify, they will

provide money up to a certain amount to cover specific costs, such as

diagnostics, therapies, etc. Oh, and I have been told that our MRDD

program has a Family Assistance fund that we may also qualify for.

You would be amazed once you start asking around what is out there.
