Guest guest
Now, if only we could have doctors trained to recognise tongue and labial ties while they are in medical school! This morning I saw a 2 week old baby whose mother was in agony every time she nursed. Why was I, a lowly IBCLC, able to see the adhesions when the pediatrician, the midwife and the RN IBCLC in the hospital all asserted there was no tie? The good news is that the mother now knows where to get it fixed.normaNorma Ritter, IBCLC, RLCBreastfeeding Matters in the Capital Regionwww.NormaRitter.com Join us on Facebook for the latest birthing and breastfeeding news and views:http://tinyurl.com/BMCRonFB I was starting to think I was over referring for frenotomies. Now I don't think so. This was sent to my be Sharon Vallone, whom I adore. http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/128/2/280.full.html Dana Schmidt, BS, RN, IBCLCCradlehold, DirectorBreastfeeding Education & Supportwww.cradlehold.net www.facebook.com/CradleholdBreastfeedingEducationandsupportProviding the minimum amount of intervention for the minimum amount of time for maximum benefit to mother and baby How Were YOU Supported to Breastfeed?http://www.usbreastfeeding.org/LegislationPolicy/ActionCampaigns/SupportStories/tabid/198/Default.aspx
