Hi Angel,

I was banded last year and Dr. Crawford was my surgeon.

My GP recommended him, they both studied together and she spoke very

highly of him. Well, she was so right !!!

He's one of the most patient and down to earth surgeons I met in a

long time (and I met a lot of them due to my job for a Pharma

company). His staff (e.g. secretary Suzie)is fabulous and yes, the

dietician (Jill Mason at the Mater) is included in the price you pay.

So my recommendation would be: GO AND SEE HIM !

I ended up with less than $3500 out of pocket and all the follow up

appointments (fills etc.) are free.

If you want more information, call me on my mobile (0409 549 412

after 6:00 p.m.) or send an email - I'm happy to answer your

questions.

Cheers,

P.S. NO, I don't work for him :-) I just think that he's a great

surgeon who really cares about his patients.

impressed that you only told your Mum with your first! now that is

self control, especially with the 50kg weight loss! congratulations

on your success!

reminding myself that it is the best tool I can get - but still only

a tool. I have lost weight very succesfully before and really hope I

can do it again with the band, I know what to do, my problem has

always been putting it all back on again so hope the band will help

with that!

Crawford for another opinion. How important do you think the combo of

dietician/psych services is in the success of the band?? Dr Crawford

is nearly $1000 cheaper than SIOS - and that adds up to alot of

dieticians appts and I do have access to a dietician as have been

going to the Obesity clinic at the hospital for a year and can

continue to do that after the band... what do you think? Psych is

extra at SIOS anyway. Does anyone have experience of Crawford??

at work for over a week and have been up till 2am most nights soaking

up any info I can get my hands on.... not a very good thing with a

toddler!

(not strictly a lie, because I had it out in 2002!) - and taking 2

weeks off.
