Guest guest
It seems unlikely to me that aspirin lessens your mental symptoms other than via its pain relief. It might be a placebo effect? But if aspirin would really relief depression and agitation, you have made a breaking discovery. How do you know for sure that your body aches are related to former SSRI use or sexual functioning? If you decide that you really need pain medication, consider paracetamol instead of aspirin, because paracetamol gives less chance of side effects. It seems wise to investigate the possible alternative sources of your pains. Wouldn't you consult your GP? > > Does anyone get relieved by taking aspirin. Guest guest
I recently had a bad flu and I took some alka seltzer for indigestion. I realized I felt relieved. and I looked at the label it showed aspirin as main ingriednt. I also took some regular aspirin also just because I felt better afterwards and it sort of made me forget about pssd. Im not sure the aches came from thepssd but it does seems to relieve the paranoia like im on the edge all the time from pssd. Im not even sure if these are acutally pssd symptoms either but I know these symptoms came after using SSRI. I dont usually use tylenol just because its not lying around our house but Ill give it a try. > > > > Does anyone get relieved by taking aspirin. Guest guest
I would disagree with you on this Steve - pain is a distinct feature of depression (and is featured in a TV advert for a SSRI - I cannnot recall which). As a healthcare professional (MD) I would prefer to get an aspirin associated GI bleed, than a paracetamol (or acetominophen in the US) associated liver failure as the later is frequently fatal. Guest guest
Unspecified phsyical " pain' got added to symptoms of depression only since Pharma devised a drug that also supposedly treats this unspecified pain-- Cymbalta-- with its contemptible 'depression hurts campaign'. Physical pain is not a diagnostic criteria for depression in the current DSM-IV, but you can bet it will be added to the new DSM-V, soon to come out, under the wise sponsorship of all our favorite psychiatric Key Opinion Leaders. > > > > Does anyone get relieved by taking aspirin. Im curious if this is placebo effect. > > > > Does anyone get relieved by taking aspirin. Guest guest
Paracetamol is supposed to be very safe as long as you stick to the recommended dose. I took it once everyday when studying for exams and I checked this out with my doctor who just laughed at me saying I could take 8 day safely for as long as I liked. (It has now been found that all pain killers used more than 3 times a week for long periods can increase blood pressure in 30% of men) I did get scared and stopped but now I take Paromol (paracetomol + dihydrocodienne) twice a week and it really helps me sleep. Guest guest
aspirin does affect serotonin levels in the brain, which may explain its beneficial effects on pssd. tylenol also affects serotonin levels, but not in quite the same way as aspirin. vornan > > Does anyone get relieved by taking aspirin. Guest guest
Check out on the web if one could possibly develop dependency (addiction) for dihydrocodeine with that scheme of use in the long run. Mind it's spelling. now I take Paromol (paracetomol + > dihydrocodienne) twice a week and it really helps me sleep. > > Kavy
