Guest guest
I would like to suggest a different way of thinking about what moms put on their nipples. I think of every interaction with a family as an opportunity to support the normal course of breastfeeding, as well as primal nutrition. If I suggest a mom buy a product for sore nipples--I am surely going to do as others here do and be sure it is as safe as possible--edible-sourced ingredients to start with--and if the company is otherwise ethical in support of breastfeeding, even better. OTOH, if I suggest my favorite product for the skin, coconut oil, I have introduced her to the idea that we can move even further into the kitchen in finding healing. Food is medicine and one of the best medicines in the kitchen is coconut oil. It has a far greater variety of uses than any skin care ointment and it introduces moms to a food/skin care product I'd like them all to know about. And, I do not stock breastfeeding products and I work with a lot of moms in other countries. Moms can get organic coconut oil almost anywhere.
