Guest guest
IMO, if you are going to buy a Medela pump, the Classic is your best bet. The Symphony is touted as being a*hospital grade pump,* but in the trials (conducted by Medela, themselves,) mothers FIRST established milk production with the Classic BEFORE the comparisons were made. It therefore makes sense for an adoptive mother to use a Classic. I have a bit of experience helping moms with adoptive breastfeeding/induced lactation, but am always open to new/different tips. mostly, though, my questions are: - how much does it cost to BUY a hospital grade pump? would you all recommend the symphony or the classic, given both options? - does anyone have one for sale or know a good resource? -she’s considering the newman goldfarb protocol – I have had a few moms follow that – but would love to hear the experience of others - I am pretty familiar with lactogenic herbs for pcos/igt issues, but would love to hear about anyone’s herbal milk induction protocol if there is one (in lieu of the goldfarb protocol) any other tips? thanks! lyla

Guest guest
I don't recommend buying a Lactina or an Ameda Elite from Craigslist unless you can get the serial number and find out if it is a stolen pump. Guest guest
Yes, lots of pumps end up on c-list but most of them are stolen :-/ Ameda Elite is an awesome hosp.grade pump to work with - I have used it for surrogate born, mom induced lactation effectively and adoptive moms. Costs 799 on breastpumps direct. Hygeia Enjoye (not a hospital grade, not the digital) is the closest I've seen to hosp. grade (and they are officially reusable) in case finances are a problem...it would do the job nearly as well. > > > > Subject: adoptive breastfeeding/induced lactation > To: , pplc > Date: Tuesday, March 29, 2011, 8:59 PM > > >  > > > > > I am looking for info for my cousin, who will be adopting an infant in the next year or so. I have a bit of experience helping moms with adoptive breastfeeding/induced lactation, but am always open to new/different tips. mostly, though, my questions are: >  > - how much does it cost to BUY a hospital grade pump? would you all recommend the symphony or the classic, given both options? > - does anyone have one for sale or know a good resource? > -she’s considering the newman goldfarb protocol †" I have had a few moms follow that †" but would love to hear the experience of others > - I am pretty familiar with lactogenic herbs for pcos/igt issues, but would love to hear about anyone’s herbal milk induction protocol if there is one (in lieu of the goldfarb protocol) >  > any other tips? >  > thanks! >  > lyla >  >  >
