Well Elaine it is nearly the end of day 2 so how was it today. Are

things starting to be a little less mind blowing. It is always the same

when you start a new job. I remember when I started at Virgin and we

had to do 6 weeks of training and exams to learn all about

superannuation I thought I would never get through it all. As soon as

you are comfortable and settled in we will have to have lunch. So what

are your hours and what time do you have to have lunch? Glad to hear

the people are nice.

Well I was bad -

but not as bad as I might have been had I not wanted to spend more time on the beach. I bought some clothes and make up - but the rest of the time I was good and didnt do much except focus on relaxing.

How are you doing Elaine?

That is fantastic - especially when we all know that us bigger people will generally do a much better job from the outset simply because we always feel like we have something to prove. So sometimes good things really do come in big parcels! I am so happy that you have found a great new job; it's given me some real food for thought. I am always promising myself that once I get to goal I will go and look for something else but then I get back on the treadmill and can't seem to get off.

Hi ,I 'm fine thanks - started my new job 2 weeks ago and am settling in well. I was at my last job for 10 and a 1/2 yeras like you and i wasn't very happy for the last 18 mths and really felt that i was been taken advantage of in many ways but i didn't have the guts to try and find another job, it was always "I will look for another job when i lose weight" seeing as that is happening very slowly and the fact i was really unhappy at my old job i decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised when i got it!! The ABC have a non discriminatory policy so they look at the qualifications and not who is presenting them. It is a really great place to work and i dont have to bust my gut and get paid a much better salary than my last place. ElaineWell I was bad -but not as bad as I might have been had I not wanted to spend more time on the beach.  I bought some clothes and make up - but the rest of the time I was good and didn't do much except focus on relaxing. How are you doing Elaine?

Hiya Elaine

How frustrating for you. I hope that there is some alternative there for you - like you say you want to leave further surgery as a last resort.

I dont think that would be a viable option for me as the whole point of the sleeve is because I cant get restriction with my bandy without getting reflux!   Let us know how you go with your appointment with your surgeon.  I would also be interested in knowing if he can leave the band in.  I have heard of people having the sleeve and the band, so when the sleeve stops working, the band can be brought into play.

Hiya Elaine

How are you going? I bet you are counting down until band out etc. It must be a emotional time for you. I do know what you are going thru - my 3 months without a band were a nightmare time for me, but as you said at 's that day you dont have any real restriction at the moment so its not going to be a huge change. When I was without my band, I did a number of things to try and keep myself in some check, I did the lite n easy for a bit - that was good, but it still didnt stop me from gaining 25kg. I think you are going into it in a better frame of mind, you are healthy and know what your long term gain is going to be once you have the sleeve.

Have you got all your time of work etc sorted?

Hi ,

The advantage i have over you in the same situation is that i wont be eating

any more than i am now and hopefully a bit less!

I am lucky re work because as soon as you step into the ABC you have 18 personal

days owing which includes sick leave so i am sorted for a week off for removal

and 2 weeks for sleeve which just about covers the 18 days as i have already

taken 2 to visit Dad in Melbourne.

Dr R is not charging for the removal which is good but i do feel guilty at

all i have spent over the last 3 years but i guess if i hadn't i wont be

around too much longer anyway!!

I certainly know when i am stressed, my appetite increases 10 fold as it

did the days following my decision to do all that i am doing, plus the worry

about my Dad but i have decided that i will be sensible etc etc!

I nearly fell off the chair when he said 'Monday' and I said 'as in this Monday, the 23rd' and when he replied yes. I said well I will go for it, no point procrastinating and it gives me no chance to dither about things. I will have a busy weekend getting myself organised but I am confident that it will be smooth and pretty painless.

Hiya Elaine

Glad you are feeling well enough to head back to work. Are you all set for Monday? Has Dr R put you on any special post op diet. I know I was told to 'take it easy' and I think I did... for about 3 days

No, didnt get the usual STP, actually had pain in my right shoulder but I dont know if that was STP, it disappeared once I was up and walking around on Monday arvo. Actually most of my pain disappeared once I got up and went to the loo. I think when I was in the bed feeling sorry for myself, everything 'hurt' but as soon as I got bored and over myself and started to move about, the pain improved.
