Hi Sydney Banders.... I am the new girl on the block and thought I would pluck up the courage and introduce myself.... so hi, *shuffles nervously* my name is Angel - (well its not actually, but i prefer to use it as my net name) - I am a soon to be bander and am seeking your help, wisdom, inspiration and enthusiasm for this new life that I am about to embark on. I would love, love, LOVE to hear your stories..... I have am a life long yo-yo dieter. I once put all my dieting attempts on a spreadsheet and was horrified to discover that I have been gaining and losing the same 30-40kg since I was 19 - yep, over 15 years of mental, physical and emotional torture to myself and my self confidence! Anyway, hopefully this is my chance to turn things around, to finally keep off the weight and be the me I have had brief glimpses of

before. I have posted on the main boards, but thought I would ask my questions here too in case anyone else can help.... I have an appt at SIOS this week. I have been to their info night and they seem good (if not a little pricey?) They quote $5,000 out of pocket with insurance. Do you think I should also get other quotes? Does anyone have any experience of SIOS or highly recommend anywhere/anyone else? I phoned CoC but they cant see me till Aug and I cant wait that long! Basically my only serious reservation is about planned pregnancy.... we have a 2yo and would like to try for another baby early next year. I am not getting any younger and dont want to leave it too long between children but I am not sure whether I should have the band done ASAP then try and lose as much as I can and then start trying for another baby early next year - or try and fall pregnant now and have the op after baby is

born. Please can anyone share their experiences of pregnancy with a band? or a band with a newborn? (sorry, I should have warned that I can talk underwater...) what did people tell work mates/friends/family? I dont think I want everyone to know just yet (in case I am a dismal failure at which point I will give up and hand over my lardy bod to science!) I have told 2 friends and hubby but that is it so far (all +ve). your experiences gratefully received.... Do you Sydney banders ever meet up IRL? If you do, I would be interested in coming along to a meeting/get-together. I really enjoyed hearing about the personal experience of the bander who attended the SIOS night (he is an FM DJ, cant remember his name tho). I guess I am finding my decision so easy to deal with, but I cant get my head around how to share it with others just yet. SIOS recommended

taking a week off work, post surgery - did you need more or less? I have had my gallbladder and appendix out and found both needed about 2 weeks for recovery. ok, so if you have got this far, THANKYOU for your patience!! sorry for all the questions... I guess feel like the kid who has just found out they are getting a new bike for their birthday.... really excited - but at the same time totally terrfied that I wont know how to ride it, and will fall flat on my face while learning! Look forward to getting to know you all and hearing about your journeys too..... Angel x
