I was talking with someone the other day about how formula companies collect/buy

lists of people expecting a baby and time mailings of " free " formula samples for

right after the birth. It made me wonder whether anyone has tried this for

offering LC services. I assume these lists can be bought, and postcards

advertising breastfeeding help could be sent. I like the idea of women who are

struggling having something other than formula company materials arriving in the

mailbox. Has anyone tried this?

Hi ,I have not done this as an LC, but I have many, many years ago as a non-profit fundraiser. If memory serves me correctly, the lists were quite expensive and the return response on them was low. We considered it a great response if 1% of people we mailed to sent a donation. Then, you'd have to figure in the printing and mailing costs. I could be wrong, but based on my passed experience, it would be difficult to recoup the money invested. Maybe if a group of LCs in a region chipped in, it might work out. I do like your idea of being proactive about reaching women, I'm just not sure if this is the most cost-effective way. Maybe someone in the group has more recent experience than I do?
