Guest guest
Bianca, Do you have access to the Breastfeeding Answer Book or Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple? Both books have information about mothers breastfeeding with multiple sclerosis. Apparently breastfeeding can cause a remission of MS symptoms and most medications used as MS treatments are considered compatible with breastfeeding. Any informantion, or site would be much appreciated about this disease and breastfeeding. The neuorlogist does not want to talk to her about medications before she weans her baby. They did not push her in her decision but it would be nice to give her useful information about this sickness, the medication and breastfeeding. Guest guest
The medication that I have seen used for MS is not orally bioavailable (given by injection) so it passes right through the baby. Guest guest
This is the perfect opportunity to discuss what an opportunity the remission that tends to come with breastfeeding offers. Many moms who have MS tend to blame the MS for symptoms that are actually caused by inflammatory foods, especially gluten and dairy. Since they expect to feel bad, they have no way to tease out the symptoms, but the reports of reversal of symptoms on an anti-inflammatory diet are pretty impressive.
