Re: Switching from Advair to Asmanex

Advair has two medications in it and the Asmanex is just the one

medication. So you lost a long term broncholdilator when you

switched. You may want to ask you doctor if you could get a single

long acting bronchodilator. Serevent is on and it is the one in

Advair. Another is Foridill.

The makers of Xopenex are coming out with one soon. It is under FDA

evaluation.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if my doctor didn't recommend Serevent

because of

my Advair side effects. I really don't like Asmanex too much but cannot live

with the Advair

issues. The skin infections were popping up every time I was bitten by a

mosquito or ant.

One more question: what do you konw about the discontinuing of Albuterol? My

pharmacy

said it was replaced with ProAir HFA (which is much more expensive, too). I know

Albuterol

was a generic rescue inhaler.

Thanks for all of your advice!
