Autoimmune diseases, including fibromyalgia, lupus and rheumatoid

arthritis, may be linked to zinc deficiency, and zinc has been

demonstrated to affect pain in animal studies. People with

fibromyalgia often have lower levels of zinc in the body, and it has

been suggested that taking zinc supplements may help to relieve pain.

Zinc lozenges have also gained popularity as a treatment for colds and

flu.
