I thought I would add to the topic. Xopenex is a short-acting beta-

agonist used to treat bronchospasm. Xopenex is a chemically re-

engineered form on albuterol. By removing the (S)-isomer from racemic

albuterol, Sepracor Inc. has developed XOPENEX. They did this to

reduce the heart related side effects of albuterol.

Remember everything you put into your body has side effects.

Everything. I know someone who feels more " jittery " after using

Xopenex then they do using albuterol. Most however, don't feel as

bad. Try it and see what you think.

Sepracor says that Xopenex needs to be used every 6 hours. Any

frequency greater that that you might as well use albuterol. Talk to

your doctor and see what he thinks. As for me I like Xopenex for my

patients who have these side effects.
