If you aren't feeling better with that many meds, and have so many

allergies, maybe you should consider allergy shots?

I had allergy shots for years when I was growing up asthmatic in the

Midwest, and I know they helped me a lot. My mom swears she could

see a huge difference after I'd been taking the shots for a few

months. The effect was long-lasting, too: I still test as only

slightly allergic to the biggest bugaboos of my childhood: ragweed,

dust, mold and certain tree pollens. This is in spite of the fact

that I haven't had an allergy shot in 30-odd years.

Unfortunately, I have developed some new allergies since then (grass

and our beloved doggy, in particular) and my asthma has been getting

progressively worse, to where my allergies and asthma doctor now

lists it as " severe persistent asthma. " I'm planning to start on

allergy shots again soon.

By the way, I've been dealing with asthma for more than 50 years and

have never heard of cartilage in the lungs. Is that directly

related to the asthma or is it a whole other problem?
