My daughter, 17 yrs, was asleep when I got home and she was coughing in her sleep so I woke her to see if she'd taken her meds. She got up since I woke her up and she ate

some raw cookie dough(Toll House Cookie Dough) that comes in the big butter like plastic container, already made;maybe a teaspoon or so. And she ate a half a

tuna fish sandwish on bread. Would one of those things

cause her to not sleep ALL NIGHT LONG?

She's often had these problems throughout life and I'm just wondering if it's allergies. Just in case. To be on the safe side.

Not sure, but I've read that eating sweets can keep you awake. Could it have

been the coughing?

dont know but its not uncommon...my parents thought I was some kinda freak from staying up all night from the asthma...(they thought i was just playin around or whatever...) then my sister had the same deal, and other people I know with asthma also get that...its pretty common for asthma patients, but a little known fact...sometimes they dont realize what we're going through...I have a lot of nights where symptoms are bad enough to justify going to ER, but thats just too expensive...char from Spokane wa wrote: My daughter, 17 yrs, was asleep when I got home and she was coughing in her sleep so I woke her to see if she'd taken her meds. No, not the coughing.

I read rich foods, desserts and wheat can cause insomnia.

She wasn't having breathing problems last night, just during the day. So, I don't know...

Hi,

I also have insomnia some nights. Most of the time it

is from my asthma symptoms. Other times i am simply

up when my breathing is fine..I have linked it to

overeating and eating sweets. you can have insomnia

from eating a bunch and then your body is working hard

to digest and that keeps you up, also sugar can be a

stimulant. I have not heard of allergies per se

keeping people up, but allergies can wreak havoc in

all kinds of ways on our bodies, so i would not be

surprised if that was a factor

The sugar (sucrose?) and the chosolate (caffeine) in the dough could act as stimulants particularly if one is sensitive to them. As well, the tuna, while not a stimulant, is almost pure protein which provides energy (not as quickly as a stimulant, but for a longer period of time). -Keilemoncurls wrote: Hi, I also have insomnia some nights.
