That's exactly it! Like I'm drunk, I could never pass a sobriety test if pulled

over, other than the breathalyzer- I'm afraid my physician is now looking around

for other answers when we already have it. I can relate so completely to

everyone here, I just don't think I have some other disease. I'm also afraid

his insecurity in diagnosis is not helping my disability fight at all!

I have met two people with CFIDS who slur really badly - almost as if

they were drunk. And when I'm tired I have what is called a " rolling gait " . The

two people who slurred also looked sleepy, as though their eyes were blinking in

slow motion at times. We all are affected differently. Marty

According to my doc (which I am slowly losing faith in!) my thyroid levels are

normal - Ugh!

This slurring and uneven gait are symptoms of an underactive thyroid.

What is your normal? No one knows what our 'normal' is. You need to

have the thyroid tests done privately if you can. If you live in the UK docs

normally only test for TSH which is open to misinterpretation and in my opinion

should be abolished as a diagnostic tool. There are thousands of people

(mainly ME sufferers) who are walking around with sub-optimal thyroids because

of

this test. You need your T4 and T3 levels measured and you need to ask for

the results and reference ranges used. If you have this done privately you

should receive the results directly. I use a lab called NPTech - Tel: 01638

665350.

Hope this is helpful.

Barbie - Thanks for the tip, I live in the USA, but I'm sure I can arrange for

this. Thank you so much!

Jane - please let me know how you get on. I was told for 40 odd years that

my thyroid was 'normal' and found when I did carry out the tests privately

that my T3 was below 'normal' and my T4 was on the low side - I have improved

considerably since taking thyroxine. I'm a firm believer that one of the

causative factors of ME/CFS is mercury poisoning from amalgam fillings — we

don't

even need our own amalgams as we can inherit the mercury via our conception.

Mercury effects every cell, organ and gland in our bodies, especially the

thyroid and adrenals — it all adds up to me.

Keep in touch.

Barbie, I'm going to check into thyroid issues (must write it down!). I did get

the results from my BA swallow and of course, it was normal! How, I don't know

since I choke on everything solid, but of course they test you with liquid, so,

there ya go!

My PCP is referring me to another neuro ! Jeez, he just doesn't get it, he's

the one who orig dxd me with CFIDS 7 yrs ago, now he's back peddling and is just

amazed that " none of those neuro (3) have found MS yet " Ugh!!! MS???? Why is he

questioning his dx 7 years later. Terribly frustrating!

Thanks for the info - I will let you know!

I also have slurring, I am unable at times to say the right word, get

a word backwards & actually make no since at all.

I also have a uneven gait.

I am hypothyroid. My thyroid is fine & I still have the problem.

I think it is just the nature of the beast.

Something is going on in our brain where we can not spit out the right

word.

Come on guys, doesn't everyone do this?

Maybe it happens more when more tired. It just seems to come still a

long time & leave for a while.

Good Luck

I wish my doc knew about everybody else out there who has these same symptoms,

but when you go to just about any site, they never mention uneven gait as a

symptom and I can't remember if they mention slurring either.
