Dear Friends,

The 30th Annual Conference of the MPSOS concluded successfully on Sunday the

15th. Leaving me dead tired... and happy. Happy because of all the kudos' I

received for hosting an excellent scientific feast, great hospitality, and a

perfect atmosphere.

To the extent that the Vice-President MPSOS actually wrote down a Hindi poem in

my praise and read it out in the valedictory function.

However I can not take all the praise alone, there were a number of people who

shared my workload...

Our invited faculty included Dr P N Nagpal (Chief Guest), Dr K P S Malik (Guest

of Honour, Vice President AIOS), Dr Krishnadas R (Madurai), Dr Prateep and

Sharadini Vyas (Jalna), Dr Lalit Verma (New Delhi), Dr Mahipal Sachdeva (New

Delhi), Dr Ruchi Goel (New Delhi) and 42 eminent speakers from our own state.

Elatedly yours,

Congratulations Ravin on your success. It really feals great and for few

days after the conference you have the craving of doing something new and

different. Do you work in a setup or you have your own hospital

Congrats, Ravin.

I had always wondered why people volunteer for all this free donkey work,

but now I know that it is for those few words of praise and an occasional

pat on the back!

Dear Kishore,

Thanks!

Coming to your question, why volunteer for such work? Actually nobody did. My

society thought me capable and requested me to do it :-D

Months of hard work, bouquets and brickbats, all finally culminating in a

glorious 4 days which flew by like seconds :-)

There were a number of moments of glory:

1. Dr P N Nagpal praised my efforts and compared the conference to an AIOS

conference.

2. Dr K P S Malik (Vice President AIOS) did the same

3. Dr R K Mishra (senior most member of the MPSOS, founder President of the

MPSOS, JDOS, IDOS, BDOS, GDOS and RDOS) said " Dr Das has been the best

organizing secretary ever " (the society was formed in 1970)

4. The Vice President's poem (Dr S K Parwani, Indore)

5. We cracked two records, the maximum attendance in any MPSOS conference, and

the maximum number of trade participants in any MPSOS conference.

6. Post-conference, Dr P N Nagpal called up from Rajkot to congratulate me yet

again on the 16th (Monday). Now that was something :-)

That really was something!

Kishore,

Thanks for asking me to " keep it up " . " It " was really a problem during those

tense preconference days.

To the extent that Asha (my wife) remarked one day " buddha ho gaya hai " .

:-D
