Judi, I guess our minds are working on sorta the same wavelength-

this is an entry from my journal I'd like to share, with wishes for a

blessed holiday season, whatever our respective faiths and beliefs

may be.

Nov. 16, 2005

I went outside last night to look at the nearly full moon. The wind

was roaring through the trees, and it was so cold, and the sky was

this incredible indigo color. It's hard to describe.....it was sort

of like I had stepped into the middle of a children's book, where

anything would be possible. That maybe, just maybe, this creaky old

grandma in a sweatshirt and fuzzy moccasins could suddenly be swept

up in that wonderful current of cold, and fly through the sky

like....Santa Claus or something! Seriously! There was something

magic about that wind, something fey and fairytale-ish . It was so

intense, blotting out all other sounds. And if you listened very

hard, you could almost hear the sound of icicles clinking together,

and I swear I could barely hear the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies

from the Nutcracker. OK, maybe not. Maybe I have an overactive

imagination. Almost certainly there is a part of me that did not grow

up and get middle aged when the rest of me did. But I swear I

wouldn't have been surprised if the Polar Express had pulled up in

front of our apartments. Can you still hear the bells? I can! I

believe! But, then the wind from wonderland died down a little and

became a regular blue norther. I came back to the reality of being a

rather chilly grandma who needed to go inside and have some coffee.

But gosh, what fun I had being in wonderland again for a few

minutes. And so many neat things to look forward to- the sounds and

smells of the holidays- good things baking, decorating the house,

listening to Earl Keen " merry Christmas from the family " while

we bake cookies, having " sketti " at my brother's on Christmas Eve,

watching the grandbabies tear into their presents like little

tasmanian devils....thank you, God, for the wonder and the magic that

come along with Your Son's birthday. Thank you for all the wonderful

memories we have, and all the ones that are yet to come.

Blessings and peace to all.

Love

Jane
