Hi Mel:

You have every right in the world to feel down about

this dx - it is not a fun disease to have. However,

at least you have a positive dx and a name for the

monster you must fight. Your doctor will be able to

treat you correctly with the meds available for RA,

and hopefully, within a few months, you will be

feeling much better. My prayers are with you - hang

in there -

A few years ago, a friend of mine applied for SSD because of her RA and other

problems. She had been swearing for a long time that she did have it and her

doctor said so. Well, when the SS folks started looking into her application,

they found that she never had RA, so naturally she was denied. She also moved

out of state and never mentioned having RA again. I guess sometimes you can say

it long enough to believe it yourself. It's certainly not something anybody

would want to have.
