Guest guest
To help control your asthma, you need to know your triggers. Then you can try to avoid your triggers. Some things you can do are… *Do not smoke or allow smoking in your home *Keep pets outside or wash them every week *Keep humidity in your home between 25% and 50% *Remove carpet *Use vacuum cleaner bags that are double thick. *Use a HEPA filter to filter air in your bedroom *Encase mattress, pillows and box springs *Do not use spray to kill roaches, use BORIC ACID *Place stuffed animals in the freezer, at least once a week, for an hour, to kill mites *Vent the clothes dryer to the outside of the home *Use exhaust fans in bathrooms *Use a vent above the stove *Do not let water stand in the kitchen or bathroom *Clean your home well, at least once a week I hope this helps > > Hi all, > > I happened to stumble onto this group and thank you for allowing me to > be a part of it. > > I am a single mother of 2 girls 10 and 7--I suffer with asthma since > 2005 I am not on a medical insurance plan and most of the time go > without meds that I need to control asthma. Guest guest
Hi , Try www.pparx.org They offer help with prescriptions for people like you who can't afford the meds and don't have insurance. Your doctor will have to help do the paperwork and send in prescriptions, but you should be able to get some help. Welcome to the group. wrote: Hi all,I happened to stumble onto this group and thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.I am a single mother of 2 girls 10 and 7--I suffer with asthma since 2005 I am not on a medical insurance plan and most of the time go without meds that I need to control asthma. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Asthma 10 years ago at the age of 49 yrs. I am working in an older building who in recent past years has been infected with bats and bat dung. Now we have been told to get out by the EPA and OSHA because of a hi mold content. The problem is there is no other place our employers want to pay to put us temporarily. They have agreed to build a new building but it will be a year or more before it is finished. Today I was diagnosed with viral pneumonia from a bacterial virus or influenza, I have had several asthma attacks over the last 10 years but this is a first for pneumonia. The doctor is keeping me home until I am well enought to fight the building. This sounds insane to me. I just don't want to quit after 15 yrs of employment and only a couple more to go for retirement. But if necessary for health reasons I may have to. I am now on advair 500, duo neb nebulizer, clarinex, flonaise and a saline solution spray plus ethromyacin, I have albuterol for back up I also take protonix and pepcid ac for GERD (which I understand goes with asthma). I just feel tired all of the time and have had one thing after another since December of last year. I usually only take advair and clarinex and flonaise for my asthma. Just throwing this info out for any responses. What do you say. Chris

I am located in Imperial County, CA and have discovered it to be such a strange place-- quite insulated from the outside world (even online!)I am also a mom of 2 and a La Leche League Leader of 3 1/2 years. (Yes, I know that is not very long-- but I LOVE it!!) I was blessed with a job offer-- which I *hope* ends up being fortuitous timing-- for the On-Call LC with the WIC peer counselor program. (Everything happens all at once around here!)I am really enjoying surfing through the old messages and learning so much already!!
