Guest guest
I don't blame him. Why should he continue to waste his time on a patient who refuses to cooperate and thinks she knows better than he does? You ARE difficult..you sound like the patient from HELL. You ignore everything he says and then you have the nerve to get upset when he drops you? GROW UP. Doctors don't have time enough as it is why should they waste it on someone like you when there are plenty of patients who actually LISTEN to their doctors and do what's best for them? And for the record Miss Thinks She Knows It All, I don't think anyone LIKES hospitals. I was "fired" as a patient! I had an upsetting thing happen today. My pulmonolgist sent me a letter saying he was no longer going to be my doctor. I called the office to see why, and the office manager told me the doctor said I was not following his orders, so he felt I needed to find someone else. Just because I did not want to be hospitalized when I was having so much trouble breathing 3 weeks ago, he thinks I am too difficult! I am not sure why he chose to cut me loose today, since I am doing better and have not even spoken with him in 2 weeks. However, obviously NOT being hospitalized was OK since the breathing treatments and meds at home worked for me! It just upsets me.... I hate hospitals, and I think I would know when I need to be hospitalized, so me wanting to stay home and do treatments doesn't make me difficult! He said I must have a pulmonologist follow me, but I am not going to find another doctor. I am just going to do what I am doing and pray I never get desperate. I have a years worth of refills of the Advair, Singulair, inhalers, and breathing treatment medicine (Xopenex), so I shouldn't need a lung doctor until all the prescriptions are up next February! What a lousy day..... Just completely upsets me.... Guest guest
Sorry but I do not agree with you Sue. To me sounds like she was doing what the doctor ordered and just refused to be in the hospital. , if you have a good doctor, like my kids, they find other ways of treatment when you as a patient decide the hospital is not for you. As my kids doctor once taught a med student, when asked how he would handle and treat my son, med student said, he needs to be in the hospital. Doc said OK, now your in the real world, what other forms of treatment are out there. , you should really be thankful that he dumped you because you should have dumped him. I would send him a thank you note, may you can find a Doctor who can waste his time with you. We pay them to waste their time with us. Doctors need to stop thinking they know us all, and start to listen to us, patients. Good luck with your new search .Sue wrote: I don't blame him. Guest guest
Sue, What a terribly rude way to respond to someone you know nothing about. You do not know my situation, so how can you say I "ignore everything he says"? I mentioned ONE thing I disagreed with my doctor on, so how does that constitute me being the "patient from HELL"? Well, you tell me to "grow up", but I will tell you, I am grown up and I grew up to show respect and compassion. Although I saw none of that from you in your response, I will still offer that to you if you ever need it. I was "fired" as a patient! I had an upsetting thing happen today. My pulmonolgist sent me a letter saying he was no longer going to be my doctor. Guest guest
, You got exactly what I was saying! I have done absolutely everything my doctor has told me (over the 7 months he has been my doctor), but he could not tell me that they would do anything more for me in the hospital than we could do at home. Plus, after one breathing treatment I was breathing easier, so I knew it was going to work at home. I then went into the office the following morning for him to check me, so he could have still asked me to be hospitalized THEN if he really thought it was necessary. It sounds like you have a good doctor for your kids! I have cancer, and most oncologist have the compassion to understand that cancer patients have so many things to deal with medically, so they tend to listen to the patient and do what they prefer (if safe). I guess I was used to that and thought I could give my opinion to this doctor and not be labeled "difficult". Oh well.... Like you said, we PAY them to supposedly "waste their time" on us, so this doctor could have discussed this situation with me, rather than dump me. I guess I should see this as an opportunity to find a doctor that is more compatible with my view on when to hospitalize. I know there has to be more doctors out there that will utilize "home health" services if it can be done as safely as being in the hospital. Thanks for your understanding and kind words. Guest guest
, Yes, I have a great doctor for the kids. Can not find the same for myself, but what can you do but keep trying. Hospitalization is not was is always best, and there are many alternatives out there. My husband has a phobia of hospitals, would placing him in one when alternatives are out there, the best place to place him. No, people heal better at home. Emotionally and physically. Like you said if there is no other option then yes they go to the hospital. Try and not let others ill opinions get you down. Remember you know you body better then anyone else, MD degree's or not. Guest guest
this happened to me last yr by my pulmonologist/pcp . He also said i didnt follow his orders. But he wanted me to have tests after tests, and see doctors after doctors but wouldnt treat the anxiety that made it hard for me to go through all these tests etc. And prescribed medications that I couldnt afford week after week. I had an appt with him and was going to discuss finding a new doctor but he beat me to it. I now have the doctor I had a long time ago when i was 1st diagnosed with my lung disease. Although he is kinda test happy and was going to drop me as a patient for missing appts. I was able to have a meeting with him and he felt it was just a communication problem with him and his nurses. He is on the ball now. But still test happy.
