I should throw away the nebilizer about every 2 or 3 weeks? This nebilizer is over a year old. I thought they were good forever????

Each time you use your neb, you should rinse it out with water and let it dry. You should clean your neb about once per week with 10% white vinegar to 90% water. OR use 10% bleach and 90% water then rinse. You should trash the neb about every two or three weeks. If you have a good pharmacy/home care company. They will send you new nebs each month. Every time you get one, change it. >> What is the ratio or water to vinegar I should use for cleaning the tubing and should I use this every time I'm done with the machine or once a day? > > Char>

Not the nebulizer itself just the tubing and the mouthpieces.

My machine is on its 4th year.

If you use your neb multiple times daily you should replace the

mouthpiece every 2-3 weeks. If you do not use it that often, it does

not need to be replaced that often. We use ours only during times of

illness or difficulty (3-8 weeks total all year). I replace the

mouthpiece and the tubing 1-2 times yearly.

Guess the Scotch(not the liquor, my ish roots) in me makes me want to save, but why does the mouthpieces and chamber for the medicine need to be replaced, if you keep it clean like suggested? New nebulizer user. Also, a question, if the medicine has disappeared in the chamber you put it in and the mist is continuing to mist, do you stop the nebulizing or if the medicine isn't present anymore, but some water droplets are on the inside of the chamber that has formed, do you continue to nebulize?

When you say to trash the neb every two or three weeks, are you talking about the machine? These cost $50 or more dollars. That's alot when I don't have ins. You can't be talking about the machine itself. I don't have insurance so I don't have a home care comp.

I've used the nebilizer 7:30am, 12:00pm,

inhaler 2pm

nebilizer 6pm and 9pm

and everytime I take a treatment, it doesn't last at all, sometimes only minutes. It's getting to be where I'm struggling for air 24 hrs a day. I've been to the doc 4 times in a week and every time I see a different doc because I can't get into my doc and everytime they change my meds and I don't know if I'm coming or going. This last doc wants me to go off steroids except up the nose. I think he's nuts!

No, not the machine. The machine is a air compressor. The plastic

cup and pipe is the nebulizer. It is what nebulizes the medication.

The plastic part you put in your mouth is what you want to clean a

few time then toss it.
