EXACTLY - I was always worried I'd get pulled over driving home from work LOL

But now, my PCP thinks that becuz of the " drunken gait " and slurred speech, it

must suddenly be MS ! This was ruled out two neurologists ago! And he is now

referring me to my 4th!

I worked for 3 ophthalmologists before I " retired " in Feb of this year (I was

actually fired!), I was the 'go to girl' for any and all questions, medical or

technical, I could code anything by memory for billing purposes. Towards the

end, I had to look up everything, couldn't remember stuff I have known without

even thinking about it, for 15 years! My boss did all my eye exams and found no

signs of MS in my optic nerve. I really don't feel MS is my problem, ESPECIALLY

after hearing what everyone here is saying. There is no doubt in my mind that

CFIDS / ME is my diagnosis and I'm frustrated that now, after all these years of

treating it as CFIDS, my doctor is backpeddling when I need him most since I'm

fighting for disability. If he's telling SSA he doesn't know what it is, how

could I have a chance? Ugh! Just another day in paradise! LOL

Jane, I worked as a court reporter when I " retired " with CFS/FM. I was

also single and going out from time-to-time with friends. I would tease the

Judges during break - and ask them to watch me to do the sobriety tests. I

couldn't close my eyes and touch my nose - or even stand up with my eyes closed.

I didn't have enough balance to walk a straight line most days - and when I

finally " gave up " and " retired " I couldn't even remember what a witness said 10

minutes before - when I was the one taking down every word for the record. I

would say " Okay, IF I get stopped this week-end, don't be calling in a visiting

judge for my hearing - just say you know I can't pass any of those tests, and

dismiss it. LOL! Marty

Hi Jane,

In your case if you can go and push to go with what you already know. Later

these other things can be checked out, but like you said you need strong stuff

for this hearing...Are you working with a lawyer, perhaps he can help you get

exactly what you need. It is so scary if you feel you don't have enough medical

info to present to them...

Ya know, you never really know what your doctors are saying or sending ( I don't

personally have a copy of all my medical files from all my doctors.) Funny thing

is, I used to fill out disability forms for patients - and I know personally,

the form is a good 8 pages long and you can't make a statement on that form that

you can't back up with medical records. Well, I know my doc has it DOCUMENTED

in my chart, I have that copy, he told me it was CFIDS back in July of 1999. I

know he's just really concerned and I guess wants to keep 'ruling out " other

diseases. I've been with this guy for 20+ years, he knows me well and I think he

just wants to do right by me, ya know?

Yes, I have hired an attorney and she is awesome. She got a real eyeful on

the day I met with her. I was all jaw and head jerking, mouth jerking open ,

very difficult speech and drunk walking all over the place (was that good or bad

?? LOL) I feel that is the biggest benefit, she can speak with my physicians

and help them " document correctly " . At least, that's what I'm hoping for.

I feel, by the records I have, they can't really confirm it's anything

else....isn't that part of the problem? No confirming tests? Frustrating, but

here we go............

Hi Jane,

Yes, I can relate, at my recent hearing the judge read a statement supposedly

from one of my Rheumies that I was slowly getting better, and I was like where

did that come from. I totally denied any improvement and tried to say if

anything it was worse, but he cut me off and moved on. I am wondering if he

threw that in out of the blue or is it really in my records...

Sounds like you have a good lawyer, that is so good. I hope it all works out...

Hi Jane,

Of course I have to wait for up to 2 months, maybe longer to know. I try hard

not to think about it, feel guilty if I don't, lol

Pray everyday, and I can see it going either way. Just don't know, drive myself

crazy trying to figure it out. I go over and over it all, again and again....lol

Then if politics or budget cuts have any bearing on it....UGH !!!

oh my gosh, you mean at least 2 more months for the judge to give you his

decision? If they had the disease, it would be alot quicker wouldn't it?

That's awful! I had no idea, but I'm learning quickly. Good Luck to You

Jeannette I'll keep you in my prayers!

Hi Jane,

Thanks, I know what you mean, if I could give it to him for a few days, then see

what he says. I guess I have waited over 2 years now, so a few more months is

ok, as long as I win,

Thanks

I'm in Missouri, you wouldn't think the state would make a difference, but, you

wouldn't think it would be so difficult for us to obtain financial assistance

either, so .....there ya go! Again, you're in my prayers and good luck, keep us

posted!
