Guest guest
Do you have any other respiratory disease? If you have any of the diseases known as the chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) you will have problems getting good peak flows. These 5 conditions will cause you to obstruct the air coming out of your lungs. > > Hello! > What do most of your peak flows run? The dr says mine are way low. Guest guest
Your shortness of breath (SOB) could be from something other then airway obstruction (spasm/inflammation) > > Can someone please explain to me why sometimes I am having SOB and have > relatively normal peak flows, and other times feel basically ok and am > down 30% or more? Does this happen to anyone else? I can't seem to > remember to ask my doc this. Thanks >
Guest guest
" Can someone please explain to me why sometimes I am having SOB and have relatively normal peak flows, and other times feel basically ok and am down 30% or more? Does this happen to anyone else? I can't seem to remember to ask my doc this. Thanks " I know recently my son was blowing green zone on his peak flow but turned that " gray " color and was lethargic saying he didn't feel well. I called his doctor and she said to give him flovent inhaler even if he was in the green. Seemed to do the trick....could be the cold weather recently...it was 17 degrees this morning in Dallas unbelievable temps for this area. I would call your doc and see what they say if you can. Guest guest
I'm happy to hear it worked however, Flovent is NOT a rescue drug. I hope you understand that. Flovent should be prescribed twice a day. Sometimes once or three times. The point is that it is a maintenance medication that should be taken regularly. If this is not how it is prescribed for you/your child, then continue to take it as prescribed and ask your doctor about it next time you see him/her. > > " Can someone please explain to me why sometimes I am having SOB and > have relatively normal peak flows, and other times feel basically ok > and am down 30% or more? Know signs and symptoms and use your asthma action plan to deal with each. Very good.
Guest guest
Thanks for your thoughts. My doc seems to believe in going on "how you feel" and I am a numbers sort of person. Don't pick lemons. See all the new 2007 cars at Yahoo! Autos.

My doc seems to believe in going on " how you feel " and I am a numbers sort of person. > My pulmo had my zones set too high. I was feeling great, no symptoms at all, and was still in the red zone. I'm a very small person so my green zone begins at 250 which he says is too low, but I've never got it above that. I've used the asthma diary on national jewish's website and put in my peak flows for a couple of weeks and was able to set my zones on my monitor from that. Maybe your zones are set too high? Hope you get things figured out soon. Gracie
