Guest guest
Have you checked out square dancing lessons yet. They start in the fall. Even when I'm having asthma attacks, I can manage to dance some. Just take breaks between dances. What state and city are you in? Char [bULK] Re: HI everybody... HI Noah..About the sports, I know swimming is the best sport for asthmatics, and here in Indonesia we have some martial arts that involvesbreathing excercises, those can be good too. But the problem withswimming is only when your sensitive to the chlorine.oh yeah, you should do activities at the beach (not on cold daysthough)I think the beach got the air quality that we need ;)Good luck!!Carita> >> > Hi there,> > I'd had my first asthma symptom when I was 17 years old after having> a bad cold.> > It had lasted for about 5 years and disappeared when I relocated.> > I had been then asthma-free for about 20 years until I turned 41> years old not long ago.> > My doc. said: " if asthma comes back in adulthood, it will stay for> the rest of my life". Guest guest
I used to be quite physically active as well b4 asthma, which I got out of the blue 2 1/2 years ago. It has been extremely hard to try to get in any physical activity as I also get out of breath from walking or esp. going up stairs. I have started doing gentle martial arts like tai chi and yoga. I started out being quite breathless, but taking many breaks, now I can do almost a full hour and even dance a little bit. I noticed that I have had to just allow myself to do things slowly and not try to push myself to be like I was when I was healthy. My doctor said that if all i can walk a day is five minutes at 1/2 mile p/hour to just do that because that is at least some movement and it strengthens the lungs. this illness requires alot of courage, so hats off to us. --- char from Spokane wa wrote: > Have you checked out square dancing lessons yet. > They start in the fall. Guest guest
There hasn't been hardly any days I can dance or even walk around the house without my lungs hurting and it being hard to breath. I feel I push myself but if I don't, when do I exercise and dance. The docs say to exercise and it's so hard. I sleep so much anymore, just because I'm always worn out by the labored breathing and pains in the lungs even on the predisone, asmanex, and 3 inhalers. Are you about where I am? I took my 10 yr old son to basketball practice tonight. Then I have to tell the couch that my son has a little bit of asthma and of course he sees me sitting there puffing on my inhaler. I feel like they'll rule my son out before he gets a chance to really try. But at the same time, after his first practice tonight and from all the running, I think he just changed his mind about basketball because it was kind of hard on him. We forgot his Albuteral when we went. I'm going to go get him a 2nd inhaler tomarrow so we'll have one in his backpack and one in my purse(or in a fanny pack mabee). Does anyone have young kids with Asthma and how do you keep the inhaler on them at all times? Guest guest
Hi there I haven't had n e kids yet, but I've had asthma all my life, well I was the captain of my soccer team back when I was about 10-12 years old, my mom always packed my inhaler in my backpack or just bring it in my pocket, and yeah she kept one too, but sometimes when she wasn't there my coach also have one just in case. Well.. I think even though I got severe asthma, my parents also thought me to be more independent somehow by 12 I guess I've learn how to be calm and not pannic durring attacks.. and it helps me alot (although I still need my inhaler), I think the key is try not to be pannic, cause I can feel more calm when the people arround me is not pannic during my asthma attacks (but still on their alertness of course).
